I'm experiencing a similar thing, mate. I sent my packet 3 by recorded 1st class just over a week ago, and it's claiming not to have been delivered yet. I'm not sure what's going on - I'm debating chasing it up on the phone/email, but not sure how long I should wait.

Remember It was a Public Holiday on Monday 5th May so Post office's were closed and maybe the Embassy was closed ( they usually get uk hols too) However things do slow down whenever there are public hols in UK.

I am sure your paperwork will get there ...i have dealt with US Embassy in London in the past and they are pretty good No harm in checking up with royal mail too after all these are very importnant documents.

Things will go fast from here on for you both

Good Luck
Michelle

Unless I'm totally missing the issue, your package has been delivered. How would Royal Mail know whether or not someone from the Embassy picked it up? They've done their bit... they sent it where it was supposed to go... which is what your notice says. I'm pretty sure the Embassy staff does not contact Royal Mail to let them know that they now have your package in their hot little hands!

Recorded is now a complete waste of time in the UK. I have sent about 10 items recorded delivery in the past 2 months and even after 3 weeks the website says "come back later".....

If I want to be sure something gets there anymore (see - practicing american gramatical errors ready for the move ) I send it special delivery.....a fiver but it works....

I have an idea that the mail was delivered to the PO Box it was addressed to. Either it's still waiting to be picked up from the box, or it's been picked up but the website isn't registering that. But it did indeed get to the destination, so don't worry.

Same with us. My fiancee sent his pack3 aweek and ahalf ago and it's sitting there as well. when we sent other documents it took 4 days. Apparently the embassy has to come and pick it up.My fiancee actually works for Royal mail and he said it is just waiting for the embassy to pick it up out of the box now.

Hi Everyone Just to let you know we got our interview date for June 5th! We sent packet three back about three weeks ago and then sent the checklist in after that. They still have not picked up the checklist from the PO box in London but they still scheduled us for the interview anyway!

Interesting, so I'm probably another 10 days or so away from the letter.

Good to know, thanks for the update.

When I'm staying overnight in London I usually get a cheap but nice hotel room at something like a TravelInn or Travelodge, nothing fancy but clean and you know what you are getting as all rooms are pretty much the same country-wide.

Then just hop on the tube.....

Just looking at my own options. I suppose it depends how you are getting to London.

If you want to drive, you can drive to Luton airport parkway, the travelinn there is £69 per night, then get a ticket which gets you return train fare from luton airport parkway and a london travel card for about £18.

We're taking the train to London. Lookin up hotels as we speak! We actually got two advance tickets on National express trains for 135 return

Yeah I was looking at the train, £67 return for me so pretty good....no driving hassle....can have coffee whilst watching video on my PDA...get there in half the time...and doesn't cost any more than the fuel to drive there.

Sounds like a plan!

Doesn't seem that you can get a hotel for less than £85 inside the M25 but I suppose that's not too bad for a one-off.
