K1 Interview successsful!!!
All,
My fiance and I are very happy right now - I had my K1 visa interview
in Sydney and the K1 visa was issued! It was a long day (I got up
around 3 to get to the airport in time) but by the end of it all our
months of waiting paid off.
Here's the timeline:
April 24 - 1st NOA dated
August 23 - 2nd NOA dated
September 9 - Received packet 3 from Consulate in Sydney
September 10 - Returned Checklist
September 23 - Received packet 4 from consulate with interview time
September 30 - Interview and VISA!!!
We saved a lot of time by getting the consulate to send the forms
before the visa was approved and that way my fiance was able to gather
the I-134 material and I had my medical and got the police records
check (which incidently took about 5 weeks because they forgot to put
the police seal up the top). I had a late night filling out the forms
in packet 3 (although they weren't too bad) so I could mail the
checklist back the next day.
My dealings with the Sydney consulate were quite positive and I found
them to be friendly and very efficient. The office actually closes
around 12:30, so if everything is in order the visa can be issued on
the same morning.
Last night I booked my flights (all those frequent flyer points
helped!) and we'll be reunited in less than 3 weeks time! I only wish
I had things cleared up earlier so I could leave earlier, but the
speed of the consulate surprised up both
Good luck to all still waiting and I hope the US-side of things isn't
quite so slow now!
Cheers,
Andrew
