Hi Iv just got engaged to my American boyfriend and have been reading up on how to go about marrying and relocating to the US. SO far it seems K1 visa is the way to go so we're gathering up the various forms and information needed. I was wondering about the proof of relationship...photos and skype records and plane tickets we have but do we need to include written statements on our relationship history~? if so how long does it need to be and what needs to be included? Also the average wait time is up to 6months processing?? Im also a little confused on the exact forms needed as part he sends off and then I do the rest after the petition is approved...who does what?!

You need to include evidence that you've met once in person in the past 2 years, so photos, plane tickets, and passport stamps are good proof. Some people include a bit of evidence that the relationship is ongoing, such as phone records or other correspondence.
You also both need to include a written statement that you are free to marry and intend to do so within 90 days of your arrival on the K-1. You dont' have to include any history of how you met or the relationship, but you can if you want to. Keep it brief.
The USC files an I-129F and any required backup (the I-129F instructions are clear on what is required), to begin the process.
After the I-129F approval, you'll be required to submit documents as well, for your K-1 visa application. The US Embassy in London's website lists what is required (look at the Immigrant Visa section, even though the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa).
The USC will also need to give you an I-134 Affidavit of Support with appropriate backup, for you to take to your interivew.
You will need to get a police report and you'll be instructed on how to get a full medical done.
The whole process takes about 6 - 8 months from start to finish.
After you are in the USA and married, then you do another whole set of paperwork for your Adjustment of Status (AOS) in order to get your green card
