K-3 visa for australian
My fiancee is Australian and I'm American. We'd like to get married
down under and have her move to the States. However, the processing time for normal spousal visas appears to be painfully long. I've recently learned about the K-3 nonimmigrant spousal visa which should take significantly less time to process, but is only available from countries where the american consulates do not directly process form I-130 through "Direct Consular Filing". Anyone know if this is the case in Australia; our attempts to get answers by phoning the American consulate in Oz have thus far been unsuccessful. Thanks |
Dave, actually you can file K3 for just about any country, but to be honest with you from what I can tell K3 is a nightmare and in most cases SLOWER than K1. My question to you though is, why in the world aren't you doing a DCF when it is available to you?? This is the absolute best way to go about this process, most anecdotal evidence puts the timeline at less than 2 months...
