hi, my friend entered usa with k-3 visa a few days ago. however, the ins officer at
the poe didnt ask her for the visa package. so she keeps the package herself now.
what should she do with it? she's already opened it and used the certificates inside
to apply for aos. is it a big problem? thank you!

She should take what is left of the package to the INS office and explain to them
what has happened. that is about all she can do. Alvena See the Doc Steen site here:

is not immigration advice. The information I provide is mostly gleaned from old
newsgroup posts and visa links on the internet. If you want or need a lawyer, go to:

thank you for your reply. she went to the local ins office for aos yesterday and got
an interview date in june. it seems that there's no problem for her immigration
process right now. is it ok if she just keeps quiet and let it be?

That envelope most likely has the original k-3 petition in it. at some point in time,
the INS office is probably going to notice that they do not have it. Frankly, I think
she is best advised to take it to the interview and fess up. Alvena See the Doc Steen

as far as i know, she's not the only one who can keep the visa package. and k-3 is a
new visa, thus i m wondering if it's a new process for this type of visa? do you have
any idea about it? thanx again!
