Default K-3 Marriage Visas and Immigration Lawyers

Something tells me that hiring an immigration lawyer might be a good idea before I marry a Chinese citizen. Anybody have any pros or cons or attorney recommendations?

Hi:

The choice is yours. As a word of caution -- the K-3 is still pretty new -- so there is yet to be a large body of knowledge within the bar about the K-3 -- the immigration laws are pretty complex and are pretty hard for people, even attorneys to keep up with -- the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals just came out with a case entitled "Drax" which notes this.

Default similar question

Hi Steven
I was considering my similar situation a few days ago. Although mine is a K-1, I was thinking to re-hire my current attorney for the AOS/EAD/AP process once my fiance is here. With an Iranian involved, who knows what hassles could come up for him here in the states, or trouble returning after a visit abroad? It's expensive, but at least he'd have an attorney on record already and she stays his attorney until he adjusts status.

I tend to play it "better safe than sorry". :-)
