Your governor will do absolutely nothing. It's out of his/her jurisdiction. Something
that you might try is to contact both your senator and congressman (US house of
representatives) and find out if they have an immigration liasion, or immigration
specialist. I think a phone call followed by a letter or email is most effective.
Tell these people your story. What they can do for you is to make an inquiry with the
INS, and the INS is likely to respond to them within 30 days (INS is required to
respond to congressional inquiries within 30 days). They aren't going to speed the
process up, but they can help expedite problems that arise becuase of mishandled
paperwork, sometimes. For example, my congressman's liasion was helpful when my
husband had to change his EAD appointment because the INS changed it and gave him
little warning, and my senator's liasion was helpful when my husband's fingerprints
did not appear in his file at the time of our interview. But they could not and would
not speed the process in anyway. Good luck.
By the way, we made an inquiry with the INS about my husband's EAD at the same time
we contacted our congressman. We never heard from them...so it's not just you.

write.........
Before you write the letter, call these folks to find out what they are willing to do
for you, and exactly what documentation they require. I did all my correspondence via
email, after I talked to them on the phone.
