Default K-1 visa

Tomorrow I'm sending my I-129F Original Submission. At Last!

My question is: If I've followed all the rules and filled out all the
forms properly, for what reasons can the visa be denied - other than the
obvious "purchased bride"?

No one seems to talk about that.

Just curious.

Hi Jim,

You are sending off only a petition at this time. Are you asking what could possibly get the petition denied? Or are you asking what might cause a visa to be denied, once your fiancee gets to her interview?

At this point, not much can cause a denial of the petition unless one of you is still married or you haven't met the requirement of meeting in person.

There are many other reasons why a visa might get denied once it gets to that point. Offhand, something like failing security checks, having a communicable disease, having a harsh criminal record, not meeting the income requirements for the Affidavit of Support, and of course failure to convince the ConOff of a valid and real relationship come to mind.

Best Wishes,
Rene

We actually talk about this a great deal. Usually though, it's not so blatant. There are lots of (usually) guys who bring a foreign bride to the US and a few months after she's here, she leaves the guy, claims abuse, or whatever else. Considering the money he put out on visa applications and stuff, it's pretty much the same as a "purchased bride"... not to mention, if she gets her GC and leaves the marriage, the guy's still on the hook financially!
