K-1 recipient work eligibility question

Hi guys, I was a successful recipient of a K-1 from the Montreal embassy.
I still haven't entered with the visa, since our date is set for March 16th.
I was just offered a job by a national bank. If I enter with the K-1 on the 16th of
Dec., I would have exactly the allowed 90 days to get married to my fiancée. However,
-as I understand, I would hate to stop work while applying for the adjustment of
status, which could take 90 days.
If I decide to enter with the K-1 on Dec. 16th, do I have to stop work, or can I
remain at a position that I started with my initial SSN (as a result of I-95)?
Could the employer influence the INS in one way or another in this case? (West Palm
Beach, FL)
Your response is greatly appreciated.

To be more specific (btw thanks Shelley), without getting too caught up in the exact
ninety day timeframe (entering around the 20th of Dec. for a Mar. 16 wedding and
consequently filing for EAD on Mar. 17), I seem to recolect that there was a post in
the past about some way of speeding the process of EAD approval.
Do immigration lawyers or influential employers have a way of alleviating the delay
of the 90-110 days for EAD after marriage?
Thanks again...

There is no way that I am familiar with for speeding up the one year EAD, at least not the very first one. You could try the letter from the employer about the necessity of your working non-stop and your invaluable talents needed to perform your position as a way of getting them to issue a renewal if it is the 90 day wait or close to it.
I don't recall that you mentioned what INS office you will be using. You might well be hyperventilating for no reason at all. Some INS offices allow you to walk in and apply for your AOS and EAD. Take Philly for instance. You walk in with your petitions and applications and you walk on with them filed and your one year EAD card.
So give us folks here a clue as to your filing office and perhaps someone could give you a more definitive timeline.
