I have filed my K-1 application with the Nebraska service center and I
have a few questions that I need to clear up. I hope that someone
will be able to help me out...
1) On my I-134 can I claim my child support as a portion of my
income for the last 3 years? While it is only a small percentage of
my overall income it is needed to put me over the line. I can show
that the child support is steady and reliable with information from
the State child support processing center.
2) Should my fiancee send his initial paperwork (IV-15) to the
Consul in London PRIOR to approval in Nebraska? I have heard that
this can speed the process along quite alot.
3) Do police certificates expire? The Consulate website advises
that it can take up to 40 days to get it, but we don't want to apply
for it too early either.
4) My first NOA states that processing will take 70 - 100 days, I
know that this means business days, but exactly what does processing
mean? Should I hope that my fiancee will have his visa in hand in
that time? or that my application will be sitting in a pile waiting
for a pouch to London in that time...
I appreciate your responses. thanks.

Yes you can include the child support. Supply the court order mandating the support.
No the processing is the Service Center going over your I-129F and approving or disapproving it. It has nothing what so ever with the timeline for ultimate conclusion. Add another 2 to 3 months for that to occur through the US Consulate in London.
Your fiancee is free to ask the US Consulate in London to open a provisional file for him. Will it save time? Of course, but you still have to wait for final approval from NSC and their receipt of the NSC approval before they will issue an interview daate.
Police report validity it normally between 6 months and a year.

Thanks Rete for your reply. I am particularly pleased about the child
support as this means I don't have to go begging family to sign an
additional I-134 for him
good news.
Not so pleased of course that 'processing' means ony acceptance or
denial of my application - especially with what the timeline says on
Matt Udall's site. We are planning a wedding for mid-April and I
really fear that wont happen now. It is good to know that once we
clear the inital hurdle of the 70-100 days we are down to 2-3 months.
Will definitely have my Fiancee ask the US consulate to open a
provisional file. Any time we can save is good! Suppose it is best
to go ahead and order the Police Report now, and order a new one
before it expires. Will it state on the document when it is valid
until?
thanks again for your response.

There's no valid until date on the police certificate itself...it's the U.S. embassy that decides how recent it must be. It was a pretty painless process applying for my UK police certificate...it took 23 days.
Best of luck to the two of you!

Thanks for your best wishes Harry! I think what we will do, given
that your wait was only 23 days, and that the certificate is only
needed at the interview we will wait until we are a little closer to
approval.
thanks so much for the information! I sure want this to go smoothly.
