Does anybody know how long it takes the INS to approve form I-129F? I'm getting ready
to go to Mexico to bring back my fiance and need to know. Thanks.

About 33 days. You can check here for the latest estimates
(http://members.aol.com/MDUdall/sctimes.htm). You can't bring her back until the
I-129F is approved.

Actually it depends on the Service Center you *have* to go through. Some, like
Vermont, are very fast (with 10-15 days) while others like Nebraska (who I am waiting
on - now at day 69 and counting ) seem to work at a glacier pace.
And no, you dont get to choose which Service Center you apply to. It depends on the
State you reside in
.
The Link below is a pretty good source of infomration from which to watch it.
Good Luck.

Anton and Justin,
The 33 days may be a good estimate for the Vermont Service Center, but the other Service Centers can be longer, sometimes much longer, as another poster has pointed out.
Also, before a fiance(e) can enter the country, she needs more than your I-129f approval. That approval only allows her to apply for a K1 visa. (Or a K3 in the case of a spouse.) Justin will need to find out how long it takes to get a K1 visa in Mexico once his I-129f has been approved.
Regards, JEff

He said he was from Texas in the original post. That was the only time I put in there
because I assumed he would be filing with the service center where he resided. The
Texas service center is taking about 33 days to process their I-129F's. I never said
all of the service centers. Thanks.

Justin,
It depends on where you filed.

I'm going to piggyback on this thread, because a new, somewhat related question popped into my mind as I was reading this:
I've read that the fiance cannot travel to the US while the K-1 is being processed. (Variations of this say that it is *possible* but not advisable; I'd rather err on the side of caution and assume it's not possible.)
However, does this go into effect once the petition (I-129F) is filed by the USC, or once the fiance files for the visa itself in his/her home country?
Since there is a 4-month window allowed between when the petition is approved and when the fiance must file for the visa, does that mean the fiance CAN visit the US during that 4-month period if they wanted to?

I visited the US in december, my petition was filed in October, but not approved till the February. I was not asked about it and was allowed to enter the US under the Visa waiver scheme.
once the visa paperwork is filed with the consulate in London, I wouldn't recommend travel. I did however have a flight booked, so I faxed copies of my paperwork to the embassy and they got me an earlier appointment. I would recommend doing this, it saved me a considerable amount of waiting whilst stuff sits in a mailroom somewhere, they need the originals to give you a visa, but by faxing you get on the computer ahead of time.
Don't under any circumstances take any advice from the rude woman who mans the phone at the embassy after 2pm, she just wants to get you off the phone as fast as possible
