K-1 Fiance Visa
My fiance and I are starting the process. Can someone let me know how
long the process takes. Also everything I will need to send with the
I-129F. There is a lot to get together and I don't want to miss any
thing. She also has two childen. If she came here before filing will
she have to return to her country while waiting for the paper work to
go through if we filed when she got here. Thanks all.

The length of this ordeal depends on LOT on where you need to file (VSC is
fastest) and where your fiancé lives. I had to file at NSC...it took 7
months to get out of that place. It sat another 1 1/2 months at NVC for the
security checks. It sat another 1 1/2 months, or so, at the Chinese customs
waiting for Guangzhou to pick it up. Took about another month from that for
the P3 packet to be sent. Then we got stuck in 2nd security check hell
(because of a wrongly translated name) for another 6 months. Now we are
hoping to get P4 in the next 3, or so, months. Others (especially from
Canada & England) will have much shorter time lines. But I think many are
comparable to our (minus the 2nd name check).
As far as what to send with I-129F...the only things you MUST send are the
I-129F & two G-325A (one for each of you). I also sent copies of pictures &
airlines tickets & hotel receipts & I-134 & emails & letters & divorce
papers & birth certificates & phone records & taxes & employment letter &
bank statements. How much of this additional stuff you send is up to you.
I figured since she would eventually need it for the interview that I would
send it sooner rather than later.

Check here for a good overview of the process, including the paperwork
you'll need:
http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1faq.htm
How long it takes will depend on which service center you have to send the
I-129F to. Vermont is the fastest. Best case is maybe 3-4 months for the
whole process. Worst case can be a year or more. Check here for some
timelines from people going through the process:

Good luck.

Not really. All people can tell you is how long THEIR case took. All my clients ask "how long" and I say that is a reasonable question and that I've learned from experience that any answer I give will be wrong.
