Just about to start the process!
 

Good morning all,

Would like to start off by saying 'great site'! I've spent hours and hours and hours on here reading through the wealth of information and it's been invaluable, probably saved several mistakes from being made and given a huge insight in how things work.

I'm a UKC and my wife is USC, we've been married just over 2 years now and after lots of trips both ways have decided upon me moving over there, so hopefully there will be an IR-1 visa at the end of the tunnel for me! With the help of the site I've been getting paperwork together and reading through the various sites and just about ready to start the process off. Must admit it's very disappointing seeing the difference in time frames if your in a position to do the whole process in the UK, so we have given ourselves a goal of completing the process in 12 months, which will hopefully be achieavable!

One point I did want to make which is important for anyone else looking to start the process soon and hopefully one of the mods can confirm my understanding. If you're filing after 28 April 17, then there's a slight change to how it works?! The G-325A (which I had already completed!) is now being replaced by the I-130A, which my spouse submits with the I-130 in the US and she no longer needs to complete a G-325A either. The USCIS website doesn't make this very clear in my opinion, but thought I'd put it out here and someone who knows better can confirm?

No doubt I'll be back with questions as we progress along the line, the whole logistical nightmare of gettting rid of everything and starting afresh is quite overwhelming at times! But now the decision is made I just want to try get through it as smooth and quickly as possible.

Afraid I can't answer your questions relating to the forms as I know even less about them than you do (I am sure somebody knowledgeable will be by very soon), but just wanted to stop by and say hello from a fellow UKC in the throes of a looming transatlantic move. :) (It's the CR-1 route for me - currently 5.5+ months in, still waiting for our NOA2. Your twelve-month timescale sounds sensible to me, and allows a hopeful possibility for you to be surprised/blessed with a slightly shorter one!)

Hi Keoman! Welcome to the club. I'm currently awaiting an IR-1 visa for my husband as well. Are you both in the UK (filing DCF) or is the your wife in the USA right now?

Regardless, the forms have changed to I-130 and I-130a, that is correct. The G-325A is now obsolete, there is a new edition of I-130 & I-130a dated 2/27/17. Starting 04/28/17, USCIS will only accept the 02/27/17 edition. Until then, you can use the 12/23/16 edition. Ergo, if you get it sent off in the next 9 days then you should still be okay but it's a bit risky as they can take a few days to 'process' your application as received. Hi she resides in Texas, so DCF not an option unfortunately. As I'm sending some paperwork over there, decided no point trying to beat the deadline and we will submit in a few days time with the I-130/130A combo.
