Default It's been a year since we filed for AOS and still no interview date...

Hi everyone. I am just wondering - for those of you who recently had
their AOS interview in NYC, can you please let me know how long it
took before you received the AOS interview appointment? We filed our
AOS papers in January of this year and it is almost a year and still
we have not heard anything for the interview. My husband's Advance
Parole and EAD card have been granted within three months of filing
(we filed it at the same time with the AOS papers)...

Any helpful information will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Funny, I just filed one about six months before the expiration of the
current EAD. Are you telling me that they have been known to deny EAD
for applying for renewal too early?

Default it's been over 18 mos...

I filed my AOS application with NYC INS in June 2001, which is over 18 months ago. And I have NOT gotten the fingerprint appointment notice yet, nor the interview appointment notice. So I guess you still have some time to wait.

It's really a frustrating wait...

I was in INS NYC yesterday and the officer there told me they are backlogged for 14 months . So you should expect your finger printing in Feb end. and then 6 more months for GC

By the way Casseidee , could you please check your husband's Advance Parole and EAD and see if the Alien numbers on two match.?

After reading the last post, I got worried so I went to NYC INS this morning. I was told that they are processing I-485 applications as of May 2001. They told me my case is pending for interview, which could be some time this year or 2004.

I feel that the best way for you is to go to INS and inquire about your case in person. However sometimes different officers do give inconsistent information.

bw376, where abouts did you go to enquire? (ie: Which floor in the Federal Plaza building?)

My wife and I have been waiting for a receipt for our payment, or a letter informing us of an appointment for EAD for over 3 months now, and I'm going to have to go down and see whats up.

I went to the 3rd floor (information) first. They gave me a green form and told me to go to 8th Floor (to check I-485 status).

If you are concerning about your EAD application status, you should let the officer on 3rd floor know and they will probably give you some form and tell you to go to 9th floor (EAD Dept.)

Good luck!

My brother-in-law filed in March 2001 under the LIFE Act. )Is that an I-130?) He still has not heard anything either and is nervous because it is almost 2 years from his filing. Does anyone know if the processing takes longer because of his filing under the LIFE Act? I would suppose there is more scrutiny and I am just curious if anyone here filed under the LIFE Act as well and what their experience was.
