Hi all...
Okay, so I have my K1 interview at the Vancouver Consulate tomorrow, and I'm kind of in panic mode...or at least "let's analyze every possible thing that might go wrong" mode. It's a lot of fun! :P
Anyway, my question is this: I'm bringing a copy of our original I-129F app to the interview along with everything else, but I don't have originals of everything in the app, and I'm worried this might cause a problem. I have original birth certs for both of us, as well as photos and birthday/christmas cards, but we included some credit card bills & phone bills in our original app & I don't have the originals of those (he does...and he's in Florida..and neither of us thought about that until now...of course!).
I'm reasoning with myself that as long as I have the originals of the really important stuff, and I have originals of a bunch of phone bills & credit card bills from *me*, I should be okay. But convincing myself is not an easy feat at this moment in time!! :-) Does anyone know whether or not they're totally picky about originals from the I-129F app? I'm sure I'm worrying for no reason, but I just want to be sure...
Thanks in advance!
Katie (*trying* not to panic about everything in sight!)

Hi there,
I had my K3 interview at Vancouver consulate on tuesday and it was a totally painless exp. There was a K1 applicant for their interview at the same time and i could remember that the officer asked for original b'certs and was a lil picky about tax returns and employment details, but wasn't too bad. I am sure you will be fine as they are a bunch of nice helpful/friendly people (at least in my exp)
Cheers

Did you need to include the phone bills, etc in the first place?
A common misconception with K-1 people is that they have to prove they have
a relationship. If you read the insturctions for the I-129F carefully,
you'll see that that's not true. You only have to prove you have met in
person within the last 2 years. So copies of plane tickets, photos taken
together, passport stamps, etc. can provide evidence of that. Phone bills
will not.
Unless you were specifically told by the consulate that you needed to bring
a copy of the I-129F or originals of anything, I wouldn't worry about it too
much. Of course, it never hurts to bring more than you need.
Good luck.
