interview experience/waiver removal, please note below
 

Hello all, I promise i have read and read before attempting to post :)

Ok, I have posted on several other website and received some a variety of feedback , so I thought I would come here looking for any similar experiences/input

Basically I have a thick file with the INS.. ( I know I am not the only one :)
and to make it a little easier I will just post some dates

Dec 31st, 2002 - Got married to a US citizen, dated in college first then met up again after both graduated
February, 2004 - I-485 adjustment of status interview
March , 2004 - lost job
May/June, 2004 - we were in financial trouble being asked to appear in court for Credit Card Debit
July 2004 - with unhealthy yelling, arguing and blaming on both sides, we separated
February 2005 - we filed for joined Bankruptcy and were granted
December 2005 - She filed for divorce, I think we were both stuck in our ways not willing to give in a little
March 2006 - divorce granted
September 2006 - I filed for the waiver, sent a packet of all the information we had together all the way to bank accounts, and the JOINT court order of Bankruptcy
October 2006, received the notice for biometrics and a letter of the one year extension
August 2007 - Interview with the INS office, where she indicated that I should hear something soon
December 2007 - info pass, was told its in the final stage, and received a white card with three months extension that apparenty does not happen anymore
Feb 2008 - I moved to the East coast, called customer service to conduct the AR-11 and indicated that the my case maybe outside processing time
April 2008 - received a notice from the Old local INS office stating that my case has been transferred to the new address in my zip code and that I should go there
May 2008 - scheduled info pass, they said my passport could be stamped but It had expired so they could not do that.. but I was told that I actually have an interview notice that will come in the mail for July15th
which i did receive

Now i go there next week not knowing what to do, or I somehow need to come up with more evidence, office back in the old office said that she needs no more paperwork from me.

I assume you got a GC, right? You don't actually say!


I'm not really sure what your concern is! It sounds as though you've done what you needed to do. Many people who file the I-751 waiver get interviewed. As for support documents, you have what you have! Remember though... the crux of the application is to demonstrate that you entered the marriage in good faith... what happened afterwards is largely irrelevant. Good luck.

Ian - Yes I did get the two year conditional it came sometime late 04

i sense some sarcasem.. haha should i just thank my lucky stars or something

Poppy girl, I read some of your posts and if I am correct you filed a waiver on your own.. so I can really use any advice from you


I dont know what Poppy, nothing prior to the August interview, and even after it we are almost a year later and still nothing other than ANOTHER interview this monday

some told me its because of my thick file/ joint bankruptcy and being from the middle-east.. Egypt to be precise (even though i thought it was one of US biggest allies in the middle-east
others told me that since i moved to another city,. old office may have requested that the new one make a decision which is why they need to meet me..

I guess in some sense, if I was missing some documents or did something wrong I would of heard a NO by now..

any input would be greated appreciated

Ian - One may wonder here though.... Remember having an Arabic/Middleastern name may just delay and prolong the name check process or other background check than a John Smith from Australia

by the way, ever been to Henderson, KY - I used to date a girl from there.. and been there few times back in college

It's common (or shared) names that cause the problem - not the country of origin. "John Smith" from Oz is likely to have a protracted name check as it's a common name shared by many others around the world - and each match must be checked out manually by the FBI. A former Leader of the British Labour Party was called John Smith. (And BTW why do the US newspapers insist on calling it the Labor Party? In the lower case I can deal with labor/labour but not when it's proper noun. How about the Republik Party?).

Yes I think we have the resaon a background check it happened to an Indian friend of mine,but at least they told her the reason for the hold up.

Yes I filed a waiver on my own.... and the only advice I can give you, and the questions before you ask, are different for everyone, what I was asked may well not be the same for you,just look the interviewing officer in the face, answer all questions with compleat honesty,do not fabricate or miss detail, but do not offer information, saying that I rambled on and we got on very well, but its advised to not do that.

It is scary I was physically sick before I went in and my interview was nearly an hour again not the norm but I had moved residence a few times they had lost my case, closed my case, and then a motion to re-open was filed and it goes on but..............I was approved and commended for my updates that were given to USCIS on a regular basis of my where abouts etc.
Oh and when he approved me he could not stamp my passport because they had lost my fingerprints :ohmy:.

I agree we all have different cases, different unique circumstances, so the best I can offer is consistent / honest answers

I tend to get passionate and defensive, so I will probably keep a clear head and stay factual on Monday

Hopefully, I will post some positive feedback next week
