Interview date set!

Finally, Eric has received his information from the consulate with an interview date set for July 15th. Since he had to give 3 months notice for his resignation at work, we have about another 3 month wait from June 23 (which is when he gave his resignation).

That will put my hunny at home the week of Sept 22. Finally!!

that is another big step - having the interview date. i thought it is no big deal, until consulate decided to delay sending out packet 4 til the J-1 thing was resolved :(. only that you still have to plan a delay (work) - at least you know definately how many days to count down :)

Linda & Eric Jun 27th 2003 1:45 pm

Yes I am already counting the days :)

NevAnna Jun 27th 2003 2:40 pm

Great news! Good luck to you both :)

Thanks, NevAnna.

I do have a question though. On one paper, they tell me to plan the medical before the interview date. On another, they ask me to be at the embassy at 9 AM sharp on the 15th, "where my visa application will be taken immediately following my medical examination."

So... are they expecting me to plan the medical on the same day as the interview ? If so, where do I show up ? The doctor's office, or the consulate ?

Reading this again, they tell me "it's necessary for me to undergo certain medical examinations" and that "an appointment has been scheduled for me", but not why. It does sound as if they expect me to do everything on the same day. Am I right in assuming I should be going to the embassy first, then to the doctor, then back to the embassy ?

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi, in my interview letter it states that I go to the Medical FIRST at 8am but it doesn't give a time for the Visa interview. I'm assuming that I go straight to the Embassy after receiving my medical.
Did you receive a cover letter? It states on there whether to go to the Medical or Embassy first......Good Luck!

Eric2203 Jun 29th 2003 6:17 am

No I didn't get a cover letter. Wish I did. I'm a bit confused as to where I should go first. The problem is, it's in 2 weeks time and I have a couple business trips planned, so it's gonna be diffficult to organise.

hmmmm.....Are you going through the London Consulate by any chance?

It's strange you didn't get a cover letter and by reading your post you got me a bit concerned too so I've emailed the Embassy, JUST to make sure my details are correct, I suggest you do the same.....Good luck!

yes - they do expect you to go same day. at least as far as i read in experiences. and others usually go to doctor - and as soon as they get out head for the consulate. at least here in germany the interview appointment letter (the unimportant looking piece of paper) has the appointments for medical and interview on them. even when they wrote in instructions that they will schedule an medical on same day before interview, on mine it was not scheduled. i think it is because they already got my medical - i went to doc before they send out package 4. and interview is on letter set at 0800 - not sure if it is later if a medical would be before.

hope that helps and does not add to confusion

Hi, Eric. I'm the USC, so I'll have to go by what my fiance told me. He was a bit confused, as well. The paper that has his medical and interview date on it, states that the medical is the same day as the interview. July 28 at 8:00am. The time for the interview is sheduled July 28 at 8:01am, but the time was crossed out. I told him that from what I've read here on the forum, he would show up for the medical at 8:00am(or whatever scheduled time)and then go to the London Embassy for the interview post 11am. 11am being the time the London Embassy stops dealing with visa's. You are going through Paris, correct? Probably not that much difference between London and Paris, but you might want to call to make sure of this. Good luck and let me know what you find out :)

Hey NevAnna,

That's EXACTLY what it says on my letter too, with the time scribbled out. I've contacted the Embassy but i'm pretty sure I'll go to there AFTER my Medical. Thanks for the info, glad I'm not alone on this one!

NevAnna Jun 29th 2003 9:31 am

No problem, Sols :) Did the Embassy get back with you? What's your interview date, by the way?

Mine says the same. I just assumed that you went to the interview straight after the medical. I hope thats right..... or do we really have to hang around until after 11! I'll be feeling nervous enough without having to wait around!

8am-11am is the time the Consular deals with visa's. We found this out while he was here in the States. It must not take very long for the medical or interview, I'm guessing.

I emailed the Embassy today, so I expect a reply from them tomorrow or Tuesday. My interview is scheduled for August 5th. I'll let you all know what they say :)
