Including my income on sponsor's i-864
 

Hi all. My US wife works part time so is unlikely to meet the minimum income requirement. I am self employed and my work is remote so my income will continue from the same source following the move and is well above the minimum. So I would like to include this on the i-864. However, it is unclear exactly what proof of my continued income will be acceptable.

My income is from (to name a few), Youtube, Patreon and my website (advertisements and selling online courses/software). All my income is from online platforms, basically. Would they just need to see invoices from these platforms? Bank statements perhaps? And how far back should I go with this?

Tax returns, bank statements, invoices, quarterly profit and loss statements, whatever paper proof you can provide. You have a little bit more of a hurdle because you are self employed.

Remember that only your personal income counts on the I-864 (not the total business income). So, for example, if the total business income for the year is $60,000 but you have $20,000 in business expenses, then your personal income is $40,000 and that is the amount you can use on the I-864.

You can also make up the deficit with savings, house value, etc.. Say you are short 10K. Your assets must be 3X the 10K which would be 30K. The asset(s) must be such that you can liquidate quickly.
