Default Including my income for I-864

Hi, all.

I have a question. I have no idea when our interview will be, but I thought I'd ask this question and hopefully someone can help.

Corey and I are both currently working and each earning above the poverty line. In the very near future, though, Corey will be taking a few months off work for personal reasons, and I'll still be earning enough to support us both in the meantime.

I know he will still have to fill out an I-864, and I think I fill out the I-864a if I want to include my income. If my salary only is taken into account, will we still need a co-sponsor, or will they just go by my salary and be satisfied with that? We think we'll be able to get a co-sponsor if we need to while he's not working, so that's not really a problem, but if we can avoid that, it'd be great.

I know it probably won't look good in the eyes of USCIS if he's not working, but to be honest, this is something Corey has to do, so they'll have to get over it.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Technically there's no need for the immigrant to fill out an I-864A when
using their own income if they have no family members immigrating with them.
However, many people have been asked for this anyway (I wasn't) so it's best
to have it available just in case.

There's no reason that the USCIS should frown on the USC not working if the
household income is above the required level. My interview couldn't have
given two hoots that my wife was no longer working. Expecting the husband to
remain working would be pure bigotry and hopefully your interviewer won't
have an issue.

I take it that you meet the six month requirement of living together?

Andy.
