05 Aug 2013 - InfoPass Mtg arranged as no communication received, asked to arrange new InfoPass while they look into the delay.
03 Sep 2013 - Second InfoPass we were told that the petition was received at Norfolk VA on 21 August and we should hear something soon.

7th Feb 2014 - Got my passport with the temporary I-551 which is valid for 1 year or until I get the green card
7th Feb 2014 - Booked my flight to LAX
10th Feb 2014 - Arrived at the LAX airport, waited 1 hr for immigration line, and 2 hr for processing. Make sure to take back all the important paperwork.
14th Feb 2014 - Went to Social Security office to check if I was on their system and luckily I was and got my SSN.
3rd Mar 2014 - Got SSN card by post

26 Oct 2012: Called USCIS to ask about MSC number not showing up and they checked and said everything was received and our forms were definitely in the system.
13 Dec 2012: The case status finally showed up in the system as "Initial Review" today, with the correct receipt date of October 18. I think they are catching up with these forms.
03 Jan 2013: Called USCIS to check on progress. Tier 2 rep reported that our case was transferred to the Houston field office on November 19 ("Didn't you get the letter?" "No, sorry, we didn't.").
24 Jan 2013: Received response to service request dated January 22. Actively processing, additional review, if you haven't heard from us in 6 months, blah blah. Standard meaningless "go away" letter.
06 Feb 2013: E-mail, text, online status update - APPROVED! "Decision" marked on Case Status online.
08 Feb 2013: E-mail, text, online status update - Post-Decision Activity: approval letter mailed 7 Feb.
25 Mar 2013: NVC representative verified receipt of case file in the mailroom (no number assigned yet). Delay due to mis-ship of case file to NRC, not NVC.
04 Apr 2013: Case number assigned at NVC. NO! It says DBL, not LND! American-educated processing clerk thought Northern Ireland was the same as Ireland. Called back, got someone to ask a supervisor, supervisor noticed the error and is getting it fixed.

28 June 2013: POE Houston (IAH) 3.5 hours in secondary, of which 10 minutes was actual processing of his file!
03 July 2013: Social Security Number assigned (box was ticked on DS-230)
08 July 2013: Went to Social Security Administration office and got a letter verifying SSN (the actual card has not arrived yet but he is already looking for work)
29 April 2014: Scheduled to move again because I lost my job in March! Husband did fine, and enjoyed his own job, but he decided that we should return home to his family as we first wanted to do (Ireland this time since he is a dual citizen and it's easier for me). Intending this to be our last overseas move... how ironic after all we've done to get him to the US. If he decides to officially relinquish his green card, and/or if we do move to the UK later, I'll keep the forum posted in "Returning to the UK". Cheers all and thanks for being here. <3
