Re: Immigrant Visa (DCF: I-130 Filed in UK) - TIMELINE ONLY!
Hi all,
Green card approved today, so I thought I'd share the timeline:
26 Jan 2018: Filed petition I-130.
02 Feb 2018: Payment taken by credit card
09 Feb 2018: Received confirmation that the USCIS have received our petition I-130.
03 Apr 2018: Petition I-130 approved
20 Apr 2018: Filed DS-260
23 Apr 2018: Scheduled medical for 18 May 2018
03 May 2018: Filed notification of applicant readiness
03 May 2018: Scheduled visa interview for 6 June 2016 (allowing a few weeks after medical examination)
18 May 2018: Medical examination
06 Jun 2018: Interview at the US embassy - verbal confirmation of approved visa!
The passport and documents should be returned in 5-7 working days, so looks like the whole process will have taken around 20 weeks from start to finish.
The process itself was pretty straightforward. The most painful was to obtain vaccination records, police records, military records, medical records etc from two countries (Norway and UK), plus birth certificate, marriage certificate in English language. So it has been quite a project and I'm glad it went through without any fuss.

Re: Immigrant Visa (DCF: I-130 Filed in UK) - TIMELINE ONLY!
I'm not done with the process just yet but here's the timeline for my case. (Warning, this timeline is the perfect example why you should not hire a lawyer when your case isn't complicated and you don't mind filling out forms. It is also a personal reminder to say "no" to my mother-in-law when she insists that we do something I don't really want to do...)
9 May 2018: Got married.
15 May 2018: Uploaded all info and documentation on the lawyers' online portal (lawyers based stateside).
16 May 2018: Received electronic version of I-130 to review, print out and sign.
21 May 2018: Sent I-130 back to the lawyers via FedEx.
22 May 2018: I-130 delivered.
25 May 2018: Sent email to the lawyers to check I-130 was actually delivered and submitted to USCIS. Received an automatic replay saying the law clerk on our case was no longer working for the firm and the main lawyer on our case was out of the office for the week... Finally got through to someone who took over the case, but we had to wait for the main lawyer to come back to check and sign the petition.
30 May 2018: I-130 sent by lawyers to USCIS in London.
15 June 2018: Received confirmation from USCIS they had filed our I-130 on 11 June 2018.
22 August 2018: Received email from lawyers saying they want to send an expedite letter to USCIS - Yes, 72 days after the I-130 was filed, on what was supposed to be, at the time, a 90-day process... Replied that 1/ it didn't make sense to do that now, and 2/ on what ground? Our situation doesn't warrant an expedition.
24 September 2018: Received REF regarding info missing on aliases or nickname. Basically, it should have said N/A, and shouldn't have been left blank.
26 September 2018 : Affidavit sent to USCIS.
3 October 2018: I-130 approved, but we only discovered that on...
12 October 2018: Received email from head of the Immigration Practice at the law firm (friends with my mother-in-law), congratulating us on the approval from a couple days before... Thus received a phone call from the main lawyer on our case to tell us "officially" and let us know about the second part of the process (he kept saying I'll have to fill out form DS-230... I had to tell him it was DS-260 now...)
25 October 2018: Still awaiting our case number, hopes of being in the US for Thanksgiving slowly fading away.

Re: Immigrant Visa (DCF: I-130 Filed in UK) - TIMELINE ONLY!
Timeline and top tips for IR-1 Filed through US Embassy, London
17 Jul Filed I-130, applied for ACRO
24 Jul Payment Taken/Acknowledged
1 Aug ACRO received
22 Oct RFE/RFI received, returned signed affidavit same day
1 Nov received I-130 Approval and Visa case number, booked medical for 26 Nov (earliest available)
10 Nov Medical (cancellation)
Deliberate pause for quick trip to USA
3 Dec Embassy interview
7 Dec Notification of passport dispatch
10 Dec, Passport/Visa collected
14 Dec Washington DC POE
Top tips
I-130 Form: ensure you put N/A on anything you're not filling in. The RFE cost me ~1 week of extra processing time.
Interview: Take a copy of every single document with you. Nice place but a largely anticlimactic experience.
POE: Remember to pay the $220 fee for the green card before leaving UK and creating a USCIS account - speeds up the Green Card issuance (apparently)

Re: Immigrant Visa (DCF: I-130 Filed in UK) - TIMELINE ONLY!
Here is a 2019 timeline:
11 March-- I-130 and 130-a received
9 April--forgot to copy my UK BRP which proved we were eligible for a DCF in London so contacted USCIS with a scan of it. Found out that it had been rejected for a DCF for this reason on 21 March.
15 April --I-130 and 130a submitted again with all the right pieces this time.
23 April--receipt given and payment taken for I-130
In the interim, collected all the bits and bobs that will be needed (police certificate, ACRO, tax transcripts from US, filled out the Affidavit of Support, etc)
22 June--request for more information on our marriage certificate (not all of it copied which I hadn't noted before--annoying as it dragged out the process for a few extra weeks)
24 June--returned correct marriage certificate to embassy
1 July--I-130 approved
17 July--received letter with case number
17 July--completed and submitted form DS-260

UPDATED:
18 July--created account in portal for embassy appointment, but not scheduled appt yes as need it in September and those are not viewable as it's still July.
26 July--scheduled medical for 23 August (waiting for big work project to be finished b/f able to go to London for the medical, but they had appointments as early as Monday (today is Friday))
