I751 interview?

Hi everyone!

I filed the I751 October 30th 2019, and got my biometrics done December 6th 2019. I sent an address change request January 10th 2020 and got a confirmation email. Honestly with everything that has been happening this year, this process was pushed to the back of my mind. I just thought to check the status since its been about a year since I filed. The status is "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" and has been since April 30th 2020. But I obviously haven't heard anything. I'm guessing covid has affected things? Is it normal to not hear anything about scheduling the interview for 6 months? Do you think I should contact someone?

I live in Gaithersburg MD, if that changes anything lol

Thank you!!!

1. Yes, COVID has affected all time lines.
2. Under present circumstances, normal, probably.
3. You can try contacting your congress person if you are concerned, but really the I-751 is always very low on USCIS' priority list. You remain a PR, so you're not losing anything.

You can still file the N-400 whenever you qualify for citizenship.

Re: I751 interview?

I have exactly the same message on mine except a month earlier. One concern is that i might need to extend the rent on my apartment or buy somewhere. I might need to prove i am a PR, but its now getting to look like less than six months. I guess this may also be a problem if people need to get a new job.

I wonder if they will actually have a physical interview ?

Re: I751 interview?

The new job should not be an issue. One only needs to show a drivers license and unrestricted social security card, both of which a US PR should have.

I'm just over a year in since application and nothing but biometrics. Not loosing sleep over it, as long as I can keep getting 12 month extensions.

How close to expiration do they extend ? It’s now just over 15 months since filing mine. Under 6 months left

This is news to me - and great news! I was sure I'd read somewhere I had to wait for the results of my I-751.

Ultimately, USCIS may need to wait for the I-751 to be approved, but you can file the N-400 and have them both in the system so hopefully at the end you'll get both adjudicated at the same time.

My I-485/AOS interview was on the 'Ready to be scheduled for interview" for over 13 months, and that was well before Covid... I wouldn't worry.

And what happened after the 13 months ? Did you have a physical interview and if so how much notice did you get ?
If mine takes 13 months my I-751 will of expired.

I-751 is just the form number. You still remain a US PR no matter how long it takes to adjudicate the I-751.

Yes I had a physical interview, it wasn't even really an interview. If you have sufficient evidence and are quite obviously in a genuine relationship the interview is nothing more than a minor inconvenience to take the time off work.

As Rene said, even if you're I-751 takes 5 years, you're a PR until it is adjudicated one way or the other.
