Default I751 - How Many Times for Bio?

Gotta love INS.

Submitted I-751 6 Sep 07 VSC. Within a week got the NOA for extension and appointment for bio. I was overseas at the time (as I am now) and returned to DC, 25 Oct 07 for the bio appointment. All went well, got the stamp on the bio letter and I noticed online that my application had an "action" against it the day I went for the bio - so I figured the bio results went through ok.

My wife tells me that I got a letter today from INS, stating "you will be receiving an Application Support Center (ASC) appointment notice for your fingerprints, photo, and signature".

It cost me about to $2800 to get home for the last bio appointment, why on earth would they want another one?

Any hints?

Maybe the first ones got lost. Maybe the first ones didn't end up being a clear print. Maybe USCIS is just acting weird. No way of knowing.
