Default I am not better off today than I was two years agao..

I make less money..

No retirement savings anymore..

And it's taking me a lot longer to get my wife here with me, than it took my friend
two years ago..

Uno,

It is precisely for reasons like this that I pull out my over-used refrain: is it
really worth it to stay in the US? Isn't a person good enough to not have to put up
with the constant headache of US immigration?

Luckily I haven't had any such complications but if I run into even a hint of a
headache, I'll pack my bags and leave the US. Like so many others I have a top-class
education, am smart, and can live rather comfortably anywhere.

Does anyone else share my thoughts?

eeeehhhhhh, don`t completely agree there. i`m too in the case that i don`t care where
i live. but i put up with the "headaches" because i love my (USC)-wife. for several
practical reasons she can`t live in my country. so i choose to come overhere. we know
the immigration procedure is necessary. we know the ins screws up a lot (3 times so
far in my case). and it takes a bit to adjust to a new country. but to me the only
alternative is not to be with my wife and that makes it all worthwhile (sorry for
sounding sappy).

Property ownership in the U.S., and unavailability of any employment or sufficient
income (from either spouse) abroad, and poor medical services abroad, are all strong
reasons why the U.S. is the better place to live and worth the headaches. Some
people can't just pack their bags one day and take off never to return again...

And besides, once the alien is in the U.S., all the immigration law really is just
civil law and the inefficiency of the bureaucracy makes unlawful presence of very
small consequence (no employment authorization document).

Quark, Actually I find myself totally understanding of your Post. It is
pretty much the truth for a person in your position. Yet even still I find myself
hiding my bottle of Aspirins and praying that your applications get delayed. Not long
.... just a few months or so.

quark,
i have lived in a couple of other countries 'n visited several more and am a well qualified professional. if you have seen a bit of the world you would'nt be so ready to give up what u have in this blessed country to some thing less else where. 'n to the intial poster, stop your whining, cuz it's pathetic not to be able to make it here, after they make it so easy to do so.
