I-94 work authorization stamp
I'm new at this and so I don't get all of the abbriviated terminology yet so this all
confuses me a bit because I'm not sure what it all means. I've been reading through
this group and see a lot of stuff about the I-94 but I'm still confused. After a
while all the different posts start to become alphabet soup to me, so I'd like to
just ask my own personal question here, so sorry if this is a redundant post.
Here's our situation:
* My fiance came here on a K1 visa from Canada. She got a work authorization stamp on
her I-94 card when she entered the country.
* She got her SS card just before we got married. On the card it says "can't work
without INS approval" or something close to that.
* She has not been to the INS yet for Adjustment of Status or anything else. (we do
plan to go asap, but in the meantime...)
Question: With just having the "Employment Authorized" stamp on the I-94, can she
start working immediately?
If she can't then what is the first thing we need to do?
Thanks!! Cas

Re: I-94 work authorization stamp
K-1's can work for 90 days from the date of entry into the US, then must apply for an
EAD (I-765) before the 90 days are up if she wants to continue working.

Hi Karib Her port of entry was Montreal. I guess she was lucky because it sounds like
it is hard to get work authorization from there. Cas
