I-864a Clarification
I am the USC petitioning for my youngest step-son (age 16). I am technically unemployed but work for my Husband (step -on's father). We have filed a joint Tax return for the last 4 years and are above the poverty line.
My question is do I need to file an I-864a or can I just file a I-864EZ or I-864? I filed an I-864a with our eldest son in 2014 year but I am thinking I didn't need to do that. Don't want to fill out more forms that I have to. Thank you - Christina (last child in process - and we are DONE!) |
Re: I-864a Clarification
If you are the petitioning USC, you must do an I-864. If your income alone doesn't qualify, and you need your husband's income to qualify, you will include his income on your I-864, and he needs to complete an I-864a as a contributing household member.

It doesn't sound like you can do an I-864EZ, but read those instructions to double check.

Re: I-864a Clarification
Most appreciated - It seems I did it correctly with our eldest.
I-864 + I-864a with husbands income. Will repeat this time. |
