Default I-864 Question

Hi again,

I have just looked through form I-864, to be sponsored by my now wife - WOW! that looks complicated as heck.

I am not looking for my wife to support me, I have brought my own money over here - in all honesty, i have more money than she does - do i still need this form?

Many thanks

YES!!! Your wife, the USC, is your sponsor no matter how much she earns or how much you have in savings that you brought over.

She needs to fill it out. If she doesn't earn enough to meet the income requirement (see form I-864P at www.uscis.gov), then your income can be used as well (if you're working). If you don't meet the income requirements together, you can use assets at 3x the amount that would have been needed as income.

Give it a try and come back with any questions.

Cool. Make sure you're looking at the 125% column, and the correct household size.
