Default I-751 VSC : Approved without interview

Just received the letter this afternoon. Timeline is as follows:

June 27, 2002 mailed via certified, return receipt requested
June 29, 2002 Package delivered to INS as reported by USPS tracking
system.
July 11, 2002 Received NOA, 1 year employment and travel extension.
NOA was dated July 6, postmarked July 9.
Aug 22, 2003 Received second NOA, extending for 1 additional year
employment and travel authorization. NOA was dated Aug 18, 2003.
Jan 10, 2004 Conditional basis removed. Date of decision: Jan. 6,
2004.

Must say I'm impressed. I can't say it's been painless, but there have
been some pleasant surprises, first the second extension, and then the
speed this last letter came through - I was bracing for another whole
year of waiting.

Guess I have to go to the Philly office soon to start the application
for a new card. Would appreciate if anyone has Philly experiences to
share.

Now I can start making plans for a visit home now. I don't think much
of the 3-degree weather we've been having.

It's been quite a journey, from the DCF in Malaysia back in March
2000, to this. Thanks to Alvena, Rita, Paulgani, Jonathan (ATC),
Alistair and Tip (some of these people may not even be on the
newsgroup anymore!) and all others who have advised in any way.
Couldn't have done it without all of the posts!

DCF and I-751 experiences are on
http://www.kamya.com/interview/intro.html under the I-130/DCF Abroad
and I-751 links. I will update the I-751 this weekend.

Good luck to all those still waiting, wherever in the process you are.

That is great news. Congratulations. Yes, time to get the I-551 stamp and complete the forms for the new green card. Jim did that the day he had his naturalization interview on December 1 only because we did not know how long it would be before the swearing in ceremony. They require your old green card and another form of photo id and your passport.

Now I wonder where the heck are all the I-751's filed with VSC from January, February, March, April and May of 2002.

I know LKish and Chris (who I had the pleasure of finally meeting last weekend at a holiday party they invited Jim and I to) filed in April, 2002 and Chris applied for naturalization in April, 2003 and he is still waiting on put petitions.

Congratulations!
my PD is March 1 '02 and haven't received the removal yet. Maybe they'll address my N400 and I751 at the same time.

Chris still has heard nothing and now I am worried that some of us from the
early portion of 2002 (Feb, March and April) have heard nothing from VSC
concerning the I-751 approval. I am going to call the 1-800 National Number
tomorrow and put in an inquiry. Our priority date is April 7, 2002.

Chris also applied for N-400 through VSC in April 2003. He was fingerprinted
June 2003. It looks as if Newark is currently processing October 2002
applications for citizenship. Hopefully he'll be interviewed before the
fingerprints run out!

Thanks again Rete and Jim for taking the time to come down and see us last
weekend. You were defintely the best part of the shindig! We must do it again
soon.

Rete, Linda,

I assume you did not get the I751 approved notice before you went into
N400 interview? What did INS deal with the issue during the
interview?

I am still waiting for my I751 decision, while my N400 interview is
coming up within 2 months. I am very concerned that the INS will
reject or delay the N400 decision until I751 is approved. I am from
NJ and My receipt date for I751 is March 2002.

Would you share some of your experience regarding the interview?

Many Thanks!

Jack

We did, Jack. Linda's husband is scheduled now for the naturalization but still no word on the I-751. He is using Newark as well. It is hoped that at the time of the naturalization the DAO will be authorized to both adjudicate the I-751 if it has not been before that date and conduct the test and interview for naturalization.

Jack,

Rita's right. We also live in NJ and applied in early April 2002 for I-751.
Chris' citizenship interview is late March and still no word on the approval on
removal of conditions. We have contacted VSC directly through certified mail
and hope that we have an answer before we go. We've done everything we could
possibly do (other than contact a congressman, which I don't think is necessary
at this time) so we are going to sit back and wait and as Rita said, hope that
if it isn't approved the N-400 interviewer has the power to adjudicate the
removal of conditions.

Good Luck and keep us posted.
