Default I-751 and travel abroad

Quick question on I-751:

I just filed I-751 and got a receipt. My green card is set to expire in
Jan. 03.

In Feb. 03, can I travel abroad if I carry both the receipt, which states
my card is extended for another year, and the expired green card?
Any risk?

Thank you!

Carmen

I think others have posted here to state that they have travelled with
the recepit and an expired greencard with no problem (of course the
passport must be valid).

Yes, you can travel.
The problem is what if the airline personnel or exit (passport) control
don't understand what the extension letter is.
To be safe, you might want to get your passport stamped.

But you should understand that not all INS offices will do this - argueing,
perfectly correctly, that what you have is sufficient.
