I-751 (Removing conditional residential status) questions
 

Hello,

Can someone please help me with my questions regarding I-751 filing?

1. When you receive a Notice of Action from USCIS (the new name for
INS, BCIS) upon their receipt of I-751, does it mean your conditional
status will be extended 1 year from the date this notice was issued,
or the expiration date stated on your conditional green card?

2. What happens when it takes more than a year to have your I-751
granted? Does USCIS automatically send you another extension letter
for your current status?
Hypothetically, if you have received the conditional PR status on
April 1, 2001, filed I-751 on January 5, 2003, received Notice of
Action on January 20, 2003, and then receive no further notice from
USCIS until January 20, 2004, what kind of action would you have to
take? Do you keep waiting until April 1, 2004, which is an extended
deadline of the initially granted conditional PR status? At this
point (1 year after having received Notice of Action for I-751), would
you be eligible to apply for the citizenship, or would you still have
to wait until you finally get the formal approval notice for I-751?

The date of the green card, as I recall.

No. You can go to the local USCIS office and get a stamp after they
verify your status.
