I am coming towards the end of my 2 year Green Card which I gained after entering the
US on the K1 visa route.
My GC expires mid January 2002 and I am beginning to collect the paperwork to submit
my I-751 application to remove conditions - 90 days before my GC expires...as
instructed.
I just noticed the processing times in Vermont for a I-751 are 360 days!
What happens to my work authorization/resident status in the meantime? My GC expires
in January 02 and it looks like it will be Sept 02 before I get a I-751 approval.
My employer is VERY strict when it comes to Work Authorization and I am getting a
little convcerned about all this.
Do I need to apply for anoth Work Authorization card too?

You will get a notice of receipt from VSC which will give you a 1-year extension to
your current green card, and all you will have to do is go to your local INS office
and get a green card stamp (the letter will authorize your getting it). If by some
chance you do not get your removal of conditions by the time that one expires in a
year, go back to the local INS office and you can get another stamp for another year.

Provided that you submit your I-751 on time, you would not be out of status even if
you do not receive the receipt telling you that you are extended. You should receive
the receipt in 2-3 weeks, in any case.
