I-751 Removal of Conditional Residency and Travelling abroad
Hi
I am just sharing a bit of experience.
I filed in I-751 3 months before my temporary green card expired.
So I got an letter saying that my temporary green card is still valid
for a year past its expiration date because the renewal process is
about 330 days (in the CSC).
I was worried about travelling overseas with that letter because the
stamp on my passport has expired.
But everything turns out OK. Nobody gives me a hard time about it.
Actually, I don't think the immigration officers even look at them too
carefully.
The person that examine the document most carefully is the airline
ground staff at the airport where I was about to leave for the US.
That's all. I hope this reassures some of you who are about to travel
with an extension letter.
BTW. since you'll bring original documents with you, don't forget to
make a xerox copies. Keep one with you and keep one at home!
Bon Voyage.
