Default I-751 'problems'

This group has been a great help in my struggle to acquire my green card
but I have never posted before as Google and this group always helped me
find the answer to any questions I had. Now, I'm stuck.

I'm a GB citizen and married to a US citizen. My 2 year GC expires 12/18
and I filed my I-751 on 9/18 and they Houston office) received it and
processed it on 9/21. I received my NOA a few days later and was happy.
Yesterday, I received another NOA (dated 10/14) informing me that my
request for removal of conditional status had been approved. Yay me. The
letter tells me I need to complete I-551 (which I believe will be given to
me when I visit the USCIS office) and visit the service office with my 3
photos and passport. The address for the service office is one I have not
seen before. There was also a piece of paper with the NOA telling me how I
can use infopass to make an appointment. I went online and did the infopass
thing and the very last page listed the address for the service office.
It's a different address to the one on my NOA. I confirmed the appointment
anyway, figuring I could cancel it, and went to print. No paper. Windows
blue screened. Great. I had input my e-mail address on the forms but have
not received an e-mail with the relevant appointment info and I can not
cancel it without all the numbers that the page displayed. I have tried
phoning the 1-800 number and have listened to every single menu but *still*
did not figure out the secret code you have to input in order to actually
speak to a human being. It's a tad frustrating.

So, my questions are these: How can I find out if the NOA lists the wrong
address and if I really need to go to the address infopass set me up for?
How can I get the info regarding my appointment if I do need to cancel? Why
is the 1-800 number so useless (not really looking for an answer to this
one ;) )?

Are the two addresses completely different and in two different towns?

You might find that they are relatively close - like in the same building or on the same block. Of course, if they're in two totally different towns or areas that won't be of any help. Did you look the addresses up online and see what pops up? Type them (one at a time) into Google and you'll probably learn quite a lot.

Did you ever think about making a second appt. before the initial one? You might be able to attend the new appt. and say, "Hey dudes, my printer jacked up and I was unable to cancel a duplicate appointment I have this afternoon." Maybe not just like that, but similar.

I'm pretty sure they don't hang you up by your toenails for something like that.

Then again...

Both in Houston. Google maps does not recognise the address on the I-797
but Yahoo maps does and claims it is 3.5 miles away from the location where
my appointment is set.

Nope, didn't think of that.... Good idea ;). It woule be simpler if they e-
mailed me the info after I completed the forms or if I could decipher the
secret code for the 1-800 number. I think they all hate me over at USCIS
;). Although, it only took them a month to approve my GC after filing the
I-751 so I shouldn't complain too much (has been 4 years since inital AOS
though).

Bloody h e l l mate.............you are worrying yourself over absolutely nothing. I should know, been there and done that.Just go to the address on the infopass.
Now do yourself a favor, as soon as you become eligible, apply for US citizenship which in your case should be 2 years and 9 months from the date you were first approved for the conditional residency.

good luck and stop worrying mate

Two things:

1. They're NEVER going to do anything that's additional work for them to make it easier for us.

2. They do hate us.

;o)

I finally managed to speak to someone on the help line! Wonders will never
cease. The address on my I-797 (16504 Central Green, Houston TX 77032) is
not recognised by them. They said I should try just turning up there as it
'may' be a temporary office they opened to deal with the overflow. So, I
guess I'll find out on Thursday whether or not it actually exists.

But, a couple of points that may be of interest to the group:

Infopass: If you lose the receipt then you can just go in and try and setup
another appointment via the system and it will tell you that you already
have an appointment scheduled. It will then give you the option of printing
out the receipt again with the numbers that you need. I have no clue if
this works as infopass has been down since yesterday.

Hotline: The secret code is 1 (for English), 1, 2, 6, 4.
