As long as you have the actual letter that extends you status for 1 year
there should be no problem. Even with an expired conditional greencard
you are still a US PR and the letter extends your status.
The story you referenced does not mention the I-751 and probably refers
to the fact that the girl did not receive "Advance Parole" before
leaving the US. They applied for it and the girl left the US without it.
They also mentioned they assumed the document would arrive before the
travel date and one can never assume anything where the INS is
concerned. Other than the fact that it may take a very long time to get
AP they simply should not have let the girl leave without it.

Hi everybody,
Two days ago, I watched the O'Reilly Factor on Fox. O'Reilly had a couple in
the show who had their daughter stuck in Russia because she did not have a
travel permit to come back to the USA. The kid had a green card pending.
Did any of you watch this. You can read up at

I really feel for the family and hope they get their daughter back soon.
In the meantime, I will travel myself out of the country this december
myself and I am afraid that I can't get back into the US with my expired
green card and my I-751 NOA.
Is the I-751 and my expired green card enough to get back to the US? Have
any of you guys had any trouble getting back this way?
Thanks for your input,
Hildy
