Default I-751 Have not received NOA

Hi there. We submitted our application around 5/5/04 and have not
received a NOA as yet. They have, however, cashed our cheque in the
beginning of June. I called the helpline last month and they said that
they could not help if I did not have a receipt number.(duh!) They
told me to re-send my application to the same address again and mark
it Staus Inquiry, with a copy of my cashed cheque. I've done that and
have still not received anything.
I normally wouldn't worry about it, but my grandmother is not doing
well and I would like to make sure that I can travel to see her should
the need arise. My greencard expired in July.
So I've taken next Friday off from work and am going down to the
Baltimore office with all my paperwork to demand (sorry, ask very
nicely) a stamp in my passport.
Hope it works!
Anyway, is there anyone in this situation as well? If so, what have
you done?

Does your canceled check have your receipt # on it? Did you send your I-751 with return receipt so that you would have proof that USCIS received it?

Be sure to see if Baltimore requires an Infopass appointment first. If they do you will not be able to just walk in. You can find the Infopass on the USCIS website.

Hi everyone, Thanks for the advice on the Infopass. I was surfing the
USCIS website when I noticed that I needed it. Made an appointment for
the earliest time. There were plenty of times available.
Anyway, the cancelled check has numbers on the front & back but
nothing that would resemble a receipt number. I've tried entering a
few as a receipt number but to no avail. I guess I'll just have to
wait to speak to someone.
I'll post what happened when I return.

I got the stamp!!!
Ok, So my appointment was for 8.45am. I got there before 8am and went
in anyway. Stood in the line for a number and noticed the signs saying
that the Infopass will be compulsory in mid October (no more
walk-ins). Since I was the only person there with an interview, they
called me back up immediately. She couldn't find my information with
the Infopass data and finally got it right when they scanned my
greencard.
She noticed that a NOA had not been sent and mentioned that she had
called the helpline last week and they had told her that they weren't
sending them out anymore! Firstly, why would she call them? And
secondly, why wouldn't they send out NOA's. That's the only way we can
get receipt numbers in order to check the status of our cases. She
assumed that the helpline was correct since I didn't receive one.
Anyway, she took away my greencard, stamped my passport, told me I
could work and travel with the stamp (for a year) and it was taking
between a year & a half for the approvals. And should my stamp expire
before I get approval, I need to go back for another.
I asked her to check to make sure that the address in the system was
correct. She asked if my husband & I resided at the same address. I
joked about it and she didn't take it too kindly. Anyway, it was
correct.
So, I have my stamp!!!
