Default I-751 Happy Dance

I-751 NSC
Almost fourteen months of waiting, but finally the letter from Nebraska arrived.
Approval!! Conditions removed from permanent residence status. A trip to KC
for an I-551 stamp next week, and we are well on our way to finishing. Thank
everyone on this group for the information and support through the past four
years. Without this group, I do know the process would have been much more
difficult.

Congrats Debbi

Now if only the rest of us could get ours. Bet you must be happy to be finished with that route. Now you only have naturalization if you decide to go that route.
I'll probably be a citizen before I get my 10 yr green card. LOL

Anyway, I'm happy for you.

Next week, provided they stamp the I-551???

Talk about going from "whoosh" feeling to landing on the concrete. His Canada
passport need renewing. It is always something, isn't it. We aren't really
going to done with paperwork, are we?

Okay, here's the question. Apparently the Canada passport application does not
require sending in the existing passport as we do here in the US. So do we have
to wait for the new passport and make a return trip to KC for another I-551
stamp if we are planning on traveling to Canada before the estimated six months
it takes to get his new PR card? I assume an expired passport would invalidate
and stamp, such as the I-551, or does it?

The wait seems endless, doesn't it. I wish for everyone waiting that your
approvals come soon.

There were times I wondered if naturalization was the better route.

    >Anyway, I'm happy for you.

I hope to send congrats your way soon.

Thanks! I admit it does feel good, even if there are things left to be done.
The wondering what was going on, and the inability to find out was difficult.
Oh wait, you already know about that...

Hang in there.

OK, here's my question. Where did you find out that you don't have to send in your old passport when renewing? I renewed my passport last year and I had to send in my old one. The put holes in it and returned it to me but is that something new about not sending in your old passport?

Paperwork doesn't seem to end. I'm at the 9 months part of my wait for my I-751. In Jan. I start the paperwork for my citizenship, so here we go again.

Best of luck to you!

I found that questionable myself, but the form mailed to him by the Canadian
Consulate states: Any Canadian passport or travel document issued to me within
the last FIVE years. His passport was issued over five years ago. He called
and was told not to send it.

Our I-751 was 14 months in the waiting.

and to you!
