My wife submitted her I-751 to the VSC on January 12, 2004, which
extended her conditional permanent residence for a year. Since it's
Vermont, it won't be done in a year, which means that we will have to
get it extended if we want to leave and re-enter the country. My
question is, do we have to wait the full 12 months to get it extended,
or could we get it extended earlier? My wife's brother is getting
married in Vietnam on January 15, 2005, and we would love to be able
to go over for the wedding. Actually, if there were no restrictions
on our travel, we would go visit my family in Canada at Christmas and
New Year's, then fly to Vietnam for the wedding and Lunar New Year,
but January 12 falls right smack in the middle of that time frame.
Can she only get her conditional residence extended after the current
extension has expired? What if she travels outside the US without
getting it extended? Will she be denied re-entry?
Thanks,
