Default I-751 Approved, are they going to make new GC from the Biometrics info?

Hello,

I reveived the approval letter on Oct 2006, and the letter says I was
going to receive an infomation for the appointment to process new GC
and said nothing about making Infopass Appt. Then, I received
Biometrics Appt letter week later. So I went to get that done on Oct
30th. Since then, I have not heard anything from them.
I am little confused because first of all, most people get Biometrics
Appt before they receive approval letter, second of all, most of
approval letter tell us to make an Infopass Appt for processing new GC.
My case didnt fit those procedure. I read somewhere some people did not
need to go to Infopass Appt and service center made their new GC from
the Biometrics info.

It has been a month and a half since I got approval letter, and a month
since I went to get my biometrics done.
I checked my case status on USCIS site, and it just says that they
received the CR86 on Oct 10, 2006, and tells me to follow the
instruction on the notice they have sent me.

Should I make an Infopass Appt and bring passport photo for CR86 or
just be patient and wait for the new GC or appt letter?

Thank you.

my timeline:

filed I-751 January 2006
got RFE June 2006
sent more evidence August 2006
received approval letter October 15, 2006
biometrics appts October 30, 2006

I made my husband wait five months after biometrics (which was post-approval and under the old system, through NSC). We had waited too long--the card order had not been placed and had to be fished out of the trash.

Within a week of our Infopass appointment, the new card was delivered.

Be more patient than you, but less than us.

Thank you for the reply.
After reading your experience, I decided not to wait any more. I will
make an appointment and bring my photo to the local office, then I will
at least know if it has been processed or not.
Hope I will get my new GC soon.
Thank you so much.

Hello Sooka,

I just browsed the forum and found your post- I am in the same boat, received my approval letter from VSC for I-751 a week ago (after an RFE). The letter arrived without me having had a biometrics appointment.

Which Service Center did you go through?

I was just wondering how things turned out for you... did you make an infopass appointment at your local office?

Merry Christmas,

Rebecca.

After you get the biometrics done, it'll come anywhere from a week to a year or so later.

The biometric appointment is just SOP and has absolutely no bearing on the length of time needed to adjudicate a petition, I-751, N-400, I-485, etc. Go by the timeline on the USCIS website. Note the timeline should not be taken as gossip according to HLS. It only offers a guideline for those that look at it as a lifeline.
