Hi all,
I just got the I-751 approved. They said I should go to the local office to
obtain the new green card. But my citizenship interview is on June. Do I
really need to get the new card? Does anybody out there have experience on
this? I jut don't want to get on the long line in NYC office. By the way, do
I need to wait on the line in NYC to get the new green card? Thank you!

Been there and done that recently with NYC District Office.
No, I would not bother getting the stamp or applying for the new green card at the moment. You can do it the morning of the N-400 interview.
Here's what we did:
Arrived at Fed Plaza around 8:00 a.m. Went to the 3rd floor and got a slip to go and complete the new I-89 for the green card. Did that and told the woman we had interview scheduled for an hour from then for naturalization. Proceeded to the naturalization floor from there. Don't remember the exact times (it is listed in our experience for the N-400 on the experience pages hosted by kamya listed in the root post under my name).
After interview hubby was asked if he would like to take the oath on the 12th of December (interview was on the first). He said yes and was told to wait another hour and his name would be called with the invitation letter for the swearing in ceremony.
Green card never arrived because the examiner at the interview was told we had stopped to complete the I-89 and since Jim's swearing in date was so close, they stopped it from being sent to the service center for processing.
My suggestion to you is if you are approved at the time of the interview ask if it is possible to get into the next ceremony and you are willing to sit and wait for the letter if it is possible.
Good luck and be prepared for the civics test. Jim was asked ten questions. They, too, are listed in the experience page.

One slight point -- not all naturalization interviews are conducted at "full-service" District Offices. Here in Los Angeles, many naturalization interviews are conducted in naturalization only facilities in El Monte and Bellflower.

Hi Rete,
Thank you for your reply. The information you provided is very helpfull. One
more question though, my citizen interview is in Long Island office. They
may not have this kind of service so I probably still need to go to the Fed
Plaza?
Thanks again.

Yes, as Mr. Folinskyla explained not all examiners can provide the full service and therefore you might have to go to Fed Plaza for the I-551 and completion of the I-89. However, since the Garden City Office appears to also do many other types of USCIS functions, i.e. aslyum, etc. they might be able to do. IMHO, it is worth the wait to see if they can before heading out to Fed Plaza.

Hi Rete,
Thank you for your reply. The information you provided is very helpfull. One
more question though, my citizen interview is in Long Island office. They
may not have this kind of service so I probably still need to go to the Fed
Plaza?
Thanks again.
