I-751

Hi

OK so here goes, my card exp in December, but my husband will be deployed whilst filing it, will that be a problem i.e. if we need to be interviewed etc etc??

Also I am planning to leave the country on holiday for 2 months after I have sent the forms? will that course issues?

I know asking early but my husband and I have to fill out forms before he leaves.

Cheers for your time
Maggie

IF you get called for an interview (which is unlikely, most people are not), then attend the interview and bring proof that your husband is deployed overseas.

You might have to go for biometrics soon after filing the I-751, so make sure you are in the country for that. Once you leave the USA, make sure you have a reliable source picking up your mail daily, just in case you have further correspondence from USCIS (i.e, an RFE or a notice of interview).

Best Wishes,
Rene

If your card expires before you leave or while you're away, do not leave the US without the letter from USCIS that extends your status.

One issue is the biometrics appointment. After you send in your petition, you'll get the Notice of Receipt, or 'extension letter'. Make copies of this!
Shortly after, you should get a biometrics appointment letter, to go in for fingerprinting.
You *can* do this when you get back from your trip, but run the risk of confusing them that you've abandoned your case if you don't make the appointment. Or, you can try to get the bios done before you leave.
Processing on your case can't really start until they have the bio info.
