Default I-134: Tax return question(s)

I'm preparing our I-134, Affidavit of Suppport. You're asked to
provide a copy of last income tax filed. For the last five years I've
used Turbo Tax software package to prepare and submit my own. Does a
copy of such satisfy the requirement(s) or do I have to request copies
from the IRS, if so what is the difference? Do I provide last years
only or for the last three as I've seen some people suggest?
Thank you all very much!

Allen -

All they care about is that you provide them with an accurate depiction of your income picture. I, like you, have used TurboTax for several years. I just printed off the exact same forms I sent to the IRS for the tax year 2002 and got transcripts of the previous two years from the IRS. As it happens, when I sent this stuff off to my wife, the transcript was not yet available for the 2002 tax year. If anyone thinks they will NOT suffice, please say so. I believe they are sufficient. I wish you well.

I don't know what Embassy you are going through, but we'll be going through Kiev, so I e-mailed them about this, because I also use TurboTax. They said they only needed copies of my last 2 returns, and that they didn't need to be signed. So, making copies off your computer will do just fine (for Kiev anyway).

I thought you only had to include tax returns if you're self-employed?

(I was planning to send copies for at least 3 yrs anyway, just so they have a TON of stuff and *hopefully* won't RFE or deny. But to be sure, I'll prob do 5 now. This is what reading around here is good for. )
