I-130 Timeframe questions...

After much thought... my fiance and myself have decided that the US
immigration process is far too insane to try and tackle when she is
pregnant. So we have decided that she will move here to Canada and
have the baby here and get married here. After the baby is here, we
would like to apply to get me down there, and be back down there with
her family.
Question is... since we will be married by that point... I will have
to file a I-130 and possibly a K-3 Visa petition. Can anyone give me
their thoughts or experiences on how long the process takes from
beginning to end. From the day we file the I-130 to the day we get
clearance for me to live in the US and travel/work freely?!
As a side note I am still floored that I could leave Canada and work
and live in the US under a work visa without much pain... but the
second I want to marry and take care of my future baby with a US
citizen I have to wait months maybe even a year!! That is simply BS.

I dunno, it makes sense to me, eh. Once you become a citizen then you, and
your family, could become indigent and live off of welfare. If you were an
indigent alien, however, it would be easier to ship you back to wherever you
came from before you became just another taxpayer burden.
So now, your USC spouse is required to file an Affidavit of Support which
will guarantee that you won't become a slacker. All in all, makes sense to
me. And it should make sense to you, especially once you start coughing up
more than 30% of your gross wages to Uncle Sam to help fund all of those
social welfare programs.
