Hi All,

I have a question...My husband a USA citizen applied (I 130) for his dad in 1/07/08 & it was approved on 7/14/08 out of the CSC. My question is what is the process from here & how long does it usually take? I know it has to go to the National Visa Center, but what actually happens there & when & how long before it goes to the USA Embassy in Romania? How long before my father n law can come over & when he does is he a PR? If anyone knows anthing about this I would really appreciate it.

I don't know specifics for Romania, but Dad will have a visa number immediately available to him, so it should take about the same amount of time as a spouse immigrant visa from Romania.

Yes, Dad will become a PR upon entry to the USA using his immigrant visa.

The NVC process takes aproximately 3-4 months depending on how quickly you reply to their requests.
When the case is 'complete' (NVC term), they forward it to the Consulate & schedule the interview. Timeline depends on the Consulate's immediate schedule, but about another month.
