Hi All

I was wondering if anybody can help with some info regarding the following:

My wife's sister live for the last 12 years in the US. They are filing for US
Citizenship currently. If this is finalised they would like to sponser us. I
understand that this is possible, but the following is not clear to
me:

1. Are we sponsered to work as well in the US or can only my wife work?
2. Are these type of sponsership of a family member include a green card?
3. What is the time period from the application is end until approved or
denied usually?
4. Are their any reasons why they would deny such a sposnership if teh relatives and
we qualify as setout in the I-130.

Thank you for any replies in advance.

Petrus

First of all, your wife's sister can only sponsor her sister, not her sister's
family. And filing a petition for a sister will probably take about 12 years to be
approved before you need to worry about who can or can't work. Once your wife's
petition is approved, then she can come to the US and find a job. Then your wife can
file a petition for you, which can take another 5-6 years.

That's what the petition is for - a Green Card.

As I said in Q1 - 12 years to petition approval, then another 6 months for paperwork
at the Consulate.

If your wife has health problems, a criminal record, or her US sister's family does
not make enough money to sponsor her.
