I'm permanent resident of US, residing in Illinois. My wife doesn't have
resident status in US. Right now she is in US on B-1/B-2 visa. I really
don't want her to go back to Ukraine. I understand that first step should be
filing I-130, second I-485. As far as I concerned it takes INS about 5 years
to approve I-130. Since I'm not citizen yet I can't submit I-130 and I-485
at same time. Since I-485 is not in process she can't get work
authorization. All together it looks like a nightmare. Does anybody knows
way out of this.

multiple options.
1. Become a citizen
2. Give up your PR status and try to get an H1B visa, then she can get
an H4.
3. Have her qualify for a student visa or work visa (H1B). However,
since she has US resident spouse, this would make it nearly impossible
for her to get a student visa.
4. Diversity lottery.
5. Long wait if you file as a PR.
There is no easy way out of this. If you look at the archives for this
group, you will notice this is not an unusual question.
