Default I-129F Question: Canadian applied for US immigration

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice... direction. My wife is American, we got
married in December. Applied for "immigration" through an Immigration
Lawyer in the US. (He's on vacation for a few weeks so can't ask him
questions right now).

We have applied for the I-129F. That's supposed to be approved etc,
by sometime next month. I was looking at the processing dates and
times at the TX service centre (where ours was submitted) and am a
little confused. Processing times for I-129F (Fiance)- they're
processing March 8th, which is awesome... however the only "Spousal"
thing I saw on that list was an I-130, for which they're processing
applications from Sept 2002!!...

Firstly, we're married and applied after that, why on earth did we
apply for the I-129F, we were married before we filled out all the
paperwork.

Does anyone know what the next steps are? What happens after this
I-129F petition is (hopefully) approved?

Thanks!!

Kevin

So you didn't file the I-130 at all??

This should be filed prior to filing the I-129F.

Sorry, the I-130 was filed as well, a few weeks before the I-129F. However, I don't remember a receipt for the I-130. We did get a receipt for the I-129F.

The receipt says 60-90 days, which isn't too bad, however some of the postings on here say the processing time is around 170 days... hope the receipt is more accurate.... it's a 2-3 months difference.

Kevin.. the I-129 has to be sent to Chicago, from there it is forwarded to MSC/NBC. So to look at the processing times for I-129 (spouse..) you need to check the MSC/NBC reports.

dang..... ok so that puts the processing back a month. It does look better than the Texas centre which had no mention of a K-3/K-4. So I just went by the dates for the K-1/K-2 which are obviously incorrect :-)

Now hope they get a move on it!!... I'll be checking that website daily ;-)

Thanks!

TSC's processing report does not show I-129's for K3's K4's because These are ONLY processed at MSC/NBC
The I-130 is filed at the Service Center with jurisdiction over the petitioner's place of residence which in your wife's case is Texas, correct?
I-130's takes a great while to get approved.. so don't worry about it now.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the info...

How frequently does the "NBC processing dates" page get updated? Is it a weekly thing?

From the looks of other discussions on this site, once you get your 129F-K3 approved things move quickly. Also it looks like it will probably depend on how long it takes me to get all my docs in order and sent out to the local US consulate.

Any idea on Montreal interview backlog?

I think the MSC/NBC aging report comes out every 2 months, as for the other service centers is monthly.
A friend of mine is going thru Montreal but for a K1, I can ask her if you want
Take care!
