![Question](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
for the I-129f, it says that you can submit evidence of mutual intent. I already wrote the letter of intent, but what other evidence would I need? My fiance didnt buy an engagement ring or anything yet, so a receipt for that is kind of out of the question, and I'd like to have everything sent by monday. Does anyone know what other evidence could be used??

I'm in the same situation as you. No engagement ring yet, but I don't
think that's all that important. From what I've heard, you just need
to put together a folder of photos of you with your fiance, letters
you have exchanged, copies of passport stamps showing you've visited
each other recently, and or copies of airline tickets. This is my
understanding, anyway. good luck!

We never bought an engagement ring or showed any evidence other than a
letter we both wrote.. They had no problem with this. I think if everything
else seems in order, it's not necessary. It is my experience that the 129F
was approved based more on that the form was correctly filled out, and all
the documentation was there, but the visa was granted during the interview
and that's where they determined if your relationship was legitimate..

Never aware of this need to show "evidence" of a mutual intent. A letter from each of you is a requirement and proof of your having met in person during the last two years but that is the extent of it. A receipt for an engagement is a plus but not mandatory. Nor are samples of wedding invitations or publicly announced engagement notices.

I didn't have a receipt and it worked fine for me with Texas service
center.
I did have a line in the cover letter, though, saying that the ring was
heirloom (well sorta; grandmother's, which is certainly close enough
for government work) and so a receipt was impossible.
I woulnd't sweat it. Just cut-and-paste the sample letter that's on
one of the usual suspects' web pages.

Steff:
My fiancée and I wrote no such "letters of intent". In fact, after I
sent the I-129F to the TSC I started worrying about this (because I
had read so much about it in this news group) and the photo I sent in
of her because it "barely" showed her right ear. I went back and
looked at my original "instructions" from the I-129F and noticed I had
put a question (?) mark beside that particular item 5B. I then read
the "cover letter" I sent along with the package and to satisfy 5B I
sent copies of e-mails in which we discussed marriage. Additionally, I
also sent a copy of the receipt for the engagement ring I purchased
for my sweetie (Tell him to buy you a ring dagumit!) and finally a
picture of my fiancée with the engagement ring on her finger and a
very large smile on her face. If that doesn't show intent I don't know
what does. Beyond my two examples, I'm not sure what else you could
provide to show intent. I think people worry about this too much. I
also sent in copies of airline boarding passes and bus tickets that
showed we traveled together in Thailand along with a bunch of other
stuff. Suffice it to say if you are very meticulous in assembling your
package you should not have any problems. I managed to scrape by
without a letter of intent and the incredibly "ridiculous" right ear
photo. I followed the instructions for the photo but I just didn't get
far enough to the left when I snapped the picture. Her right ear lobe
was just barely visible so I guess that was enough. If you need a
format for a cover letter, I would be happy to send you mine if you
send me an e-mail requesting such. I think my cover letter made all
the difference in the world or maybe I just put together a well
organized package. Good luck.
