Post I-129F App: USCIS require more evidence

Hello all.

I am a UK national and my fiance is a US citizen and we filed for a K1 visa in October. The California Service Center have finally got around to our I-129F application a little over a week ago. Unfortunately, they sent a letter stating that they needed more evidence of us having met over the period we stated. We had already submitted to them the flight itineraries/e-ticket confirmation printouts of all of our meetings together, but USCIS are stating that these are not valid. They require all our travel information to be submitted on 'official letter-headed' paper from either our Travel Agent or Airline. As we booked all of our flights online, we never received such documentation.

I am sure that many successful applicants on this forum booked flights on the internet and therefore never received such 'official documentation' in the mail. How were these people able to provide the information that USCIS required?

The USCIS also asked for proof of my admissions to the US from my passport. Would colour photocopies of the admission stamps and my photographic ID be sufficient rather than sending in my actual passport?

The letter also stated that another acceptable form of proof would be credit card receipts and/or bank statements showing US activity. The only credit card purchase I made in the US was for my fiancee's engagement ring, which was mailed to her home once it had been resized. We have the receipt with my signature, but it has her name and address for the reason of posting it to her. I am currently waiting for a copy of my credit card statement from the time period of that purchase, however we are both concerned that it hinges on this statement coupled with the receipt because most of my purchases in the US were made with cash.

Your help would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Major,

That's an interesting request from USCIS, I hadn't heard that one before. When I submitted my I-129F for my fiance in 2003, I included:

Photocopies of flight itineraries (they were booked on line, so no letterhead)
Photocopies of boarding passes (I had kept them in my scrapbook)
Photocopies of my passport pages showing travel to Turkey (black and white photocopies)
Photos of my fiance and I together in Turkey
Photocopies of a sampling of phone bills and correspondence (this was at the suggestion of my attorney)\

I think you're on the right track with photocopies of your passport and receipts of purchases.

Best Wishes,
Rene

Did you send photos of you two together? Very odd... that's usually all that's required at this point.

The USCIS also asked for proof of my admissions to the US from my passport.
Never, ever, ever... send an original document. Always send copies. Your passport, BTW, is the property of the UK government... it isn't yours to give away! Anyway, never send originals!

Yes, we had sent a photo of us together. I wasn't sure if USCIS would accept a photo as "proof" since there's no real way to date it for them, but we did include that in the first package. Will likely send another, but different one, with this next package.

Thanks to both of you for the replies. We're still waiting on a credit card statement and then will try this again!

Itineraries only proof you booked it, not travelled. Do you not have your boarding pass? the passport copy is perfect.

Good luck.
