I-129 vs. I-130/K3 - Which is really faster?
Hello,
I've been reading numerous posts on this group about the delays in the
service center processing marriage-based special provision I-129F
applications.
This makes me wonder, with the anticipated 4 month wait for an I-129F,
AFTER you get an I-129F received notice, whether it's actually worth
it to try to get a K3 and pay the extra fees.
The Nebraska Service Center lists only a 4 month processing time for
the I-129F.
It seems to me as if the I-129F would actually be processed faster?
Can this be accurate?
Is it worth it to pay the extra fees?
Todd

Re: I-129 vs. I-130/K3 - Which is really faster?
Hi Todd;
In my case the i-130 was approved two weeks before the i-129f . As a matter
of fact the i-129f is still on hold because of an RFE. I am patiently waiting
for documents from Russia to address this problem. I myself, received no
benefit from pursuing the i-129f. I have received conflicting reports about
this, and you may wish to check further yourself, but I was told that the K-3
visa is only for those who do not already have an approved i-130.
Hope this helps
Mike

Todd,
I think it depends where your spouse is from...My husband is Israeli. We filed
his I-129F at the beginning of May, and we were approved on August 1. He is
scheduled for an interview on October 8. So far I haven't heard anything about
my I-130.

I don't think it matters where the foriegn partner is from, unless you can do a
direct consular filing. It matters where you live in the US. For the K-3 you
must file the I-129F at the Missouri SC. Back in March and April they wre
turning these around in about 6 weeks. After that it changed to 4-5 months.
Who knows what will be in the future.
For the K-1 you must file at the appropriate service center for your location.
Vermont is very fast, often about two weeks. The other centers take longer.
