How to unite with a fiance when on Green Card
Hi all,
Can anyone advise me on what can be done if I am Permanent Resident in
the USA and I want to be united with my fiance.
She lives in Ukraine
I live in the USA and have been a LPR for the past 5 years, I have
applied for citizenship but have been told that it will take at least
a year for approval.
I understand even if I was a citizen the K-1 etc visa can take upto a
year.
Can she come over to visit on a B-2 visitor visa ? we can confirm that
we won't get married and file for her immigration if that is the only
problem US immigration has.
Can any lawyer email me with suggestions and a conctact. My email is
[email protected]
please remove the -nospam- string from the above email address.
thanks!

The fastest way is probably going to be for you to go for a K-1 or K-3
after you become a citizen. It is doubtful that she will be able to
enter on a B-2. It is generally a difficult visa to get for people for
Ukraine, and having a fiance in the US can make it more difficult.
A lawyer might make the process smoother for the K-1, K-3, but it won't
be faster, and I doubt they can do anything to assist in getting her a B-2.

How about if you simply travel to the Ukraine?

I guess I was thinking to much "inside the box"..
If she was only going to be visiting on a B-2, then he can go visit
Ukraine, then they will be together. If they actually want to "stay"
together IN THE US, then he needs to get citizenship or wait the 5 or 6
years to sponsor her after they get married.
